Multiple Buildings Minimal Space

5 Buildings, 4 Gates, 1 System

Setting

Kitchell is building a Living and Learning theater district at UCSD, with five buildings and an underground parking structure to complete. Three buildings are going on top of the parking structure as normal campus activities are ongoing.

Problem

Without a lot of real estate to maneuver in, it’s tough to get the trade partners the right access at the right time. A lot of work going on at the buildings and the time it takes trade partners to unload is an issue in regards to accessing certain areas. Using a delivery board would be very difficult and inefficient.

Solution

Voyage Control’s cross-device logistics scheduling is how we help solve for our limited space issue. With an easy user guide and registration process, trade partners get onboarded quickly and simply. Kitchell uses the calendar view to review delivery schedules with trade partners during weekly coordination meetings and daily huddles. By updating the logistics plan in real-time to maintain gate availability for critical path deliveries, Kitchell can ensure the right trades are getting the time and space they need to make key deliveries.

If any certain day we know we’re going to have a heavy flow of traffic, between 7-8 I can only accept one delivery for this area and two for a separate area. Being capable of doing that and customizing what can come in and come out, if it’s not on VC if I have an 18-wheeler coming in to building 4, then I can only have one delivery for building 5, within that time frame, typically a 6-capacity, I reduce it to one, then another trade trying to book it can’t. They have to call me. Promotes collaboration between us and the trades.
