Voyage Control is headquartered in London with offices in New York.  We are headed up by former soldiers, senior corporate executives, MBAs, and a PhD. Our team has varied backgrounds but has one thing in common; and that is the dedication to building Voyage Control into a great company which our clients will love and that solves real world problems on the ground.

 

A Brief History

 

Back in 2009, our founder and CEO James Swanston started Voyage Control. Back then the company was called Carbon Voyage, and was focused on passenger transport.

James’ vision was to build a way for people to share their cars and taxis more easily, and in doing so reduce congestion and pollution whilst saving everyone time and money. After some initial success though, James turned his idea to freight transport. Helping businesses manage and optimise their freight deliveries was the challenge James wanted to take on, and Voyage Control was born to take on this task.

The company’s principles have remained the same since we started. For a system to be efficient all the parties involved need to have the most information possible available to them. Businesses suffer with their freight deliveries and vehicle fleets because their knowledge is fragmented. But by using Voyage Control to manage their freight deliveries, our users have access to a much larger pool for knowledge, and this is what drives efficiency. In business terms more efficiency means higher revenues and lower costs, alongside less congestion and pollution.

In his youth, James served in the Australian Army in Baghdad in the Joint Allied Command HQ. During his time in the military, James was responsible for analysing vast amounts of information from multiple sources. Upon realising that the methods the intelligence communities and the military shared information was too restrictive, James redesigned the processes and in doing so created operational efficiencies. For his service in Iraq James was awarded the US Bronze Star.

  • How to reduce urban traffic whilst enabling more freight to be moved?

 

Voyage Control is taking on the fight against poor logistics and putting the power of knowing exactly what is happening into the hands of those that need it most.

We are an award winning team of ex-military, ex-bankers, ex-construction, MBAs and PhDs who have taken up this challenge to shape the future of freight logistics.
